FANHS Greater Seattle has multiple projects in which you can be involved.

Supporting the FANHS National office
FANHS Greater Seattle is fortunate to be in the same city as the Filipino American National Historical Society national office and National Pinoy archives. Many of our chapter members volunteer for FANHS National projects and maintenance of the archives. Activities include transcribing oral histories, filing archival materials, and staffing the FANHS booth at local events such as Pagdiriwang and Pista sa Nayon,

Education
We have exhibits that schools can be put on display for students to learn about Filipino American history. Contact us about featuring one of our exhibits at your school, library, or museum.

“Dorothy and Fred” documentary project
FANHS Seattle has committed to support Ray Sabado’s documentary, “Dorothy and Fred.”  To see the trailer, visit Vimeo. FANHS Seattle is fundraising to fund the production of the documentary.

Oral Histories
A key resource for historical research are the stories of the people who lived it. FANHS Seattle supports the national office by doing oral histories and transcribing them. Periodically, FANHS Seattle offers workshops to train volunteers on how to do oral histories. Contact us if you are interested in volunteering, performing, or sharing oral histories.

During 2017-18, we plan to continue working on:

1/ The Filipino-American Vietnam Veterans Project;
2/ The FANHS Greater Seattle cookbook project; and
3/ Documentation of “Growing Up Brown” oral histories:  Sons and Daughters of Immigrants –    Baby Boomers vs Millennials
